Old Tools, New Uses (OTNU)

In 2009, STICK was awarded the first special project award as part of the Museums Association's Effective Collections Scheme, supported by the Esme Fairbairn Foundation.
 
This project, called Old Tools, New Uses, aims to identify the treasures and duplicates of tools and domestic technology in Scottish museums. Participants will be able to learn the importance of items in their collections from our independent specialist advisor, have access to a schools resource and get the opportunity to dispose of duplicate items to artisan communities in Africa in partnership with the charity Tools for Self Reliance (www.tfsr.org).

STICK will also create a toolkit for reviewing collections and a summary of the collection findings as a legacy of this project. We're looking for duplicate or unprovenanced collections of the following objects:
